Privacy Policy

ResumeTub is a browser extension that reads the subtitles of the YouTube video you are watching and inserts them, with a prompt, into the AI chatbot you choose (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Grok, Mistral) so it can summarize or analyze the video for you. This page explains exactly what data the extension handles. The short version: we do not run any server that collects your data, we do not track your browsing, and we never sell anything.

What we do NOT collect

• No account, no sign-up, no email required to use the extension.
• No browsing history, no list of the pages or videos you visit.
• No analytics, no advertising trackers, no third-party cookies inside the extension.
• No transcript, prompt or AI answer is sent to us or stored by us.

This “what we collect” section is about the extension. Our marketing website (resumetub.com) uses privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics — see “This website” below.

What is stored on your device

The extension uses your browser's local storage (storage.local and storage.sync). This data stays in your browser; it is used only to make the extension work:

• Your settings (chosen AI, preset, output format, interface language, options).
• Your custom presets, if you create any.
• Your license key, if you buy ResumeTub (so you stay unlocked).
• A simple daily-use counter (a date and a number) for the free plan's 3-uses-per-day limit. If you use Firefox/Chrome sync, this counter may sync across your own devices — that synchronization is handled entirely by your browser, not by us.

What leaves your browser, and where it goes

• YouTube — to do its job, the extension reads the subtitles of the video you are currently watching, directly from YouTube. This happens locally in your browser.
• Your chosen AI chatbot — the subtitles and the prompt are inserted into the input field of the AI site you selected. From that point, your use is governed by that provider's own privacy policy (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Perplexity, xAI, Mistral).
• LemonSqueezy — if you activate a license, your license key is sent to LemonSqueezy (our payment and licensing provider) only to verify that it is valid. See the LemonSqueezy privacy policy.

The extension does not load or run any remote code. It only contacts the services listed above, and only for the purpose described.

Permissions, briefly

• YouTube access — read the subtitles of the current video.
• AI chatbot sites — paste the prompt into the chat you picked.
• storage — save your settings and the daily-use counter.
• LemonSqueezy host — validate your license key.

Data deletion

All extension data lives in your browser. Removing the extension, or clearing its storage, deletes it. To release a license from a device, use “Remove key” inside the extension.

This website (resumetub.com)

Our marketing website uses PostHog to understand, in aggregate, how the site is used (page views, which buttons are clicked). It is configured to be privacy-friendly:

• No cookies and no local storage are set for analytics, so no consent banner is needed.
• We do not collect your name, email or any directly identifying information on the site.
• No session recording, no advertising, no data selling.
• Data is processed by PostHog. See the PostHog privacy policy.

This only concerns the website. The extension itself collects no analytics, as described above.

Children

ResumeTub is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

If this policy changes, the “Last updated” date above will change accordingly. Material changes will be reflected here before they take effect.
